OK, I said I would never do it, but now I'm thinking about it. I even said that people who did it were crazy, I still do! Perhaps I could join the ranks of the crazy! I'm actually entertaining thoughts about running a marathon... Yes 26.2 miles of running, it's madness.
I'm not sure where these thougths are coming from, perhaps I'm delirious, maybe I need an hour or two with Dr Jeff to clear this madness from my system. Or then again, perhaps I should embrace these crazy thoughts and run one for a charity.
The only question would be which charity?
What about the AIDS Marathon Training Program?
Or the Marathon Charity Partners and then I could take my pick of the several they offer.
The one thing that is perfectly clear to me is that if I was to run a marathon it would have to have a greater purpose me finishing the race. It would have to be for a cause that I believed in.
I'd love to run for a third world charity like Compassion or World Vision or Keep A Child Alive but I don't believe they currently have a charity running program.
Here's where you can help... if you know of a charity that raises funds through marathons I'd love to know as I'm pretty clueless as to where to begin.
I see no sense in running for me, the time spent doing it just doesn't seem worth it, but if I can run and make a difference at the same time, then that would make it worth my while.
I remember you calling me crazy when I was going to run the marathon that I was planning on doing. Team In Training does marathons all the time to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I believe there are also other charities that run in the Marine Corps Marathon that's every October...and you may be able to link to them through the MC Marathon webpage (not sure what it is off the top of my head...but if I can find it I'll post another comment to you.) Good for you! :)

Yes, Jen, my thoughts on crazy haven't changed, it just might be that I'm crazy too!

My roommate John in grad school decided to do marathon one year. I still remember my friends either side of John, ushering him by the arms across a grassy area to the car. The grass was fresh cut, no more than a couple inches tall. All John could say a couple of times as he shuffled along was "Gee, this grass is tall." :)
Marathon crazy? You bet! :)
